Mark Mramor will continue in Renault Clio Cup category this season. And he want to be amongst the top three drivers in the final championship standings. The Slovenian driver revealed that and much more in our interview.
Mark, you raced during last ESET Cup season in Renault Clio Cup category. You finished fifth in the overall standings and you took one podium result. How are you happy with 2020 season?
2020 was a really weird year. I had barley any practice because of the pandemic, so last season was quite difficult for me and the team, but in the end, we still managed to achieve fifth place, which is not so bad for my fist year. But at the same time, I am also a little bit upset that Slovenian drivers couldn’t drive in the last round at Hungaroring, where I could achieve some good points and maybe even finish third in the championship. But in the end, I would still like to thank Lema Racing and ESET junior drivers programme for standing by my side and helping me finish last year championship.
What do you think about Renault Clio Cup category in ESET Cup? What is the best on this category according to you?
I think that this category is one of the funniest categories in car racing. I tried GT4 car, but it was less fun to drive in my opinion. Best in this category is that all cars are the same, so it really shows how skilled you are. I think that it was really interesting and fun to compete in this series last year.
Will you race in Renault Clio Cup category also during 2021 ESET Cup season?
This year, I will continue to race in Clio Cup. I think it is the best option for me to stay here because I still need to learn a lot before I move to higher categories.
What will be your ambitions for 2021 season? Last year, you shone especially during Race 2 in Grobnik, where you finished second and you even challenged the winner Tomáš Pekař. Do you think you can fight for the podiums or even for the victories this year?
This year, I think that it will be much different than last year. I have already started training and trying a lot of different setups. Compared to last year, I have more confidence in myself and in the car. My main goal is to finish in top 3 in overall standings, but I would be also very happy, if I achieve a victory or two.
Filip Sandström, who finished third in overall standings of 2020 Clio Cup Central Europe season, will come to Renault Clio Cup category of ESET Cup this year. What do you expect from him? Do you think he will join the fight for the championship title?
Honestly, I don’t know what to expect from him because I have never seen him race, but I hope that he will be one of title contenders. I think that if I drive with more skilled drivers, I can learn much more during all the races so I hope that the fight for the championship will be intense and exciting this year.
ESET Cup will return to Poznan, Poland this season. How do you look forward to this round?
I have never driven in Poznan, but I am really looking forward to trying this track. I have heard a lot of positive things about this circuit, so I am happy that it was added to the calendar.
Why should the fans follow the 2021 season of Renault Clio Cup category in ESET Cup according to you?
I think that the fans should follow the 2021 season of Clio Cup because we will be so close to each other throughout the whole year and we will bring a lot of intense fights on the circuit.
