Polish duo Stanislaw Jedlinski and Krystian Korzeniowski from the Olimp Racing team led their yellow Audi R8 LMS GT3 to victory in the first Endurance race of the season.
Saturday’s final race at the Hungaroring was a one-hour endurance challenge. The Olimp team started from pole position, but their Audi fell into fourth place in the first turn, allowing Antonín Herbeck, driving a Pagani Zonda, to take the lead. However, Dennis Waszek, in a new BMW M4 GT3, very soon moved into the lead. Meanwhile, Herbeck crashed his car. A few moments later, a Lamborghini from the Mičánek Motorsport team also left the track, very close to the barrier. But while Herbeck could not continue after the accident, the duo in the Lamborghini – Bronislav Formánek and Jiří Mičánek – continued the race.
Jedlinski and Korzeniowski dominated the race. After an hour, in which they completed 29 laps, they passed the finish line more than a minute ahead of Formánek and Mičánek, who, in addition to winning the overall second position, also won their GTC category.
Dennis Waszek and Gregor Zsigo from Racing Trevor finished second in the GT3 category. Petr Brecka and Karel Neffe took second in the GTC with a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, entered by the GT Sports Technology team.
As expected, Matěj Pavlíček and Josef Knopp dominated the GT4 category. They crushed the race with a KTM, beating even stronger cars from other categories. Rookie Petr Švantner finished second in GT4 with Šenkýř Motorsport’s BMW M4 GT4. This is a remarkably solid result for Švantner, who was competing in endurance for the very first time. The third-place finishers were Luca Panizzi and Predrag Šainović with the Mercedes AMG GT4 of the Lema Racing team.
