Junior drivers can be seen in almost all ESET Cup racing series, including TCR Eastern Europe. A total of 24 of them started in first two rounds of the season and because they are the next driver’s generation, they also have a separate standing in ESET Cup. The most successful junior at the Red Bull Ring was Nik Štefančič from the Twingo Cup.
Points for junior drivers are calculated according to the coefficient and the number of starting opponents in the series also plays an important role. Nik Štefančič had thirty rivals in Austria and because he won both races, he scored twice 10.38 points in the junior standing. The reigning champion was also successful at the Hungaroring, so it is no surprise that he leads the standings with 39.01 points. In second place is another Twingo Cup driver Mihailo Mladenovic, who finished second in Austria twice and scored 36.51 points overall.
Petr Semerád holds the third place with 29.56 points. He drivers a Hyundai i30N car in the TCR Eastern Europe championship. The talented driver, who also masters the rally cars, is the best junior of the TCR and regularly collects trophies in the TOP3 – the Red Bull Ring was no exception. He would probably stand on the podium in both races, but technical issue in the first race stopped him. Another TCR driver Tomasz Rzepecki with VW Golf, who regularly collects points in each race, is also in the top five.
The newcomer Tobias Poschik holds the highest place from Clio Cup drivers. Poschik also had bad luck in one of the two Austrian races and retired. The hot favourite for the title in the Clio Cup won in Hungary and was second in Austria. His opponent Szabolcs Lantos, who, like Poschik, moved from karting to the Clio Cup, is in sixth place.
The highest-rated formula racer is Benjamin Berta, who won the Hungaroring race and finished fourth twice at the Red Bull Ring. He is seventh in the junior standings with 24.83 points.
