Tobias Poschik was just one step away from the title before the final event in Brno. He then increased his comfortable lead of 35 points by two points thanks to the fastest time in qualifying, and when he won the afternoon race, he became the new Clio Cup champion.
Poschik started from the front row alongside Miha Primožič. Poschik’s biggest challenger for the title, Szabolcs Lantos, set the third fastest time in qualifying, giving him the second row on the grid alongside Thomas Fischer.
Poschik had the best start, Lantos moved to second place at the exit of the first corner. However, he lacked the pace to keep within sight of Poschik. Instead, he had to defend himself against the attacks of Primožič, who regained his second place a lap later in the first corner.
Martin Kadlečík, who we saw this year in the Twingo Cup, showed a great performance. Considering that the championship ended with the event in Slovakia, the Brno race was the ideal place to test the faster and bigger Clio. Kadlečík started from fifth place and soon moved to fourth place, which he was defending against experienced Thomas Fischer.
Poschik won the Clio Cup race confidently and became the new champion of this cup championship. The second Primožič reached seventh podium finish. It was also the seventh TOP3 for Lantos. Fourth was Kadlečík, fifth Fischer. Dejan Robida won the Clio Cup V class.
