Miha Primožič has changed the older fourth generation of Renault Clio for the latest fifth mark and he is going to fight for podium places again – and of course for the victory, that still eludes him in this championship.
Miha, you are experienced Clio Cup driver, entering your sixth season with Clio. Are you looking forward to it?
I am looking forward to it from the day I have finished the 5th season!
You finished third in the driver standings and equalled your most successful result from 2018. Were you satisfied with your last year´s performance?
I had some bad luck with flat tires and some issues with cars performance in hot weather. I do regret the race at Red Bull Ring, where I’ve dominated the first race. I wanted it too much and at the end, it cost me DNF. Overall, I am satisfied with the result and performance, but I believe that there is always some space for improvement.
Undoubtedly you have a great speed, you are able to fight for the first place and you scored many podium finishes. But one trophy you are still missing – the trophy for the winner. Does it hurt? When will be a breakthrough?
It doesn’t hurt really, but I do have to admit, that standing on the highest podium place is a unique feeling. I will let you know, when I get there…
You are co-owner of ASP, dealership of Renault, Alpine and other car brands. Can we expect that you are going to change the Clio for the latest fifth generation this season?
Yes, this year I will be competing in the latest edition of Clio, the 5th generation. At the same time, I will be competing also in two Italian championships with Clio 4th generation. Since we will add the Mercedes-Benz dealership in couple of months, this will be a good opportunity to also try some races in GT4 championship with Mercedes Benz AMG GT4 from LEMA Racing.
Since ASP is distributor of racing cars and spare parts, does it mean that you also work during the race weekends and making deals, managing orders? Or are you just racing?
Yes, I am working, making deals, managing orders and racing. This are the things I love and they completely merge with my lifestyle.
I´m curious what came first. You started work at ASP and thanks to that you fall in love with motorsport? Or was it the other way around?
I have a passion for racing since childhood, but I have never had a good opportunity to try it. So first it was ASP, then racing and now I have combined all together.
Tell us more about your racing history. When did you started, where did you race and what do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
As I mentioned before, I didn’t have any good chances for racing in the past. My racing career started very late for my age and it started completely randomly. My first race, first racing car and first racing experience at all, happened in 2018 in ESET Cup championship, where I have joined the grid at Hungaroring with Clio Cup 4th generation.Since than I am racing in ESET championship and two Italian championships, where I also became a champion in 2022. Hard to say what is my greatest achievement, but for sure it feels good, that I am able to fight with younger experienced drivers and reach the same lap times.
