This year, Martin Kadlečík has taken part in the fourth generation of the French racing car Clio Cup, and has confirmed his role as the favorite by winning the first race. He has converted his four starts into four victories.
Statistics speak for themselves. Martin Kadlečík and his white Clio IV are the provisional rulers of the Clio Cup Trophy category. He won the qualifying and the races at Oschersleben. He also triumphed at the Hungaroring and finished first overall ahead of the experienced Tomáš Pekař with the Clio V.
“I am of course very satisfied with the season so far. The Clio fits me very well and I’m glad it’s going so well. It must be said that without my father’s support it wouldn’t be possible. As a car mechanic, he is able to prepare the car perfectly and I am very grateful for that,” Martin Kadlečík explained between races at the Hungaroring, where he finished first overall in both cases.
“Crossing the finish line first is definitely a better feeling,” Martin laughed when asked if he had his sights set on Tomáš Pekař with the Clio V. “If it was going to be a tough battle with a risk, I wouldn’t have gone for it. We are not competing for points, so I didn’t need to overtake him at any cost. It was just an opportunity, so I took it.”
Martin Kadlečík currently has 82 points, 33 more than second-placed Michael Hulm. The third round of the Clio Cup will be hosted by the Automotodrom Most in the summer. But most of all, Kadlečík is looking forward to Brno, where he made his debut with the Clio at the end of last season. “Although Brno is a tire eater and it is difficult to keep them alive until the end of the race, I love that track and always look forward to it,” Kadlečík added.
