This week, Dirk Hartung unexpectedly passed away, having been responsible for the media promotion of the Drexler Formula Cup championship. The series’ leadership, all teams and drivers, as well as supporters and sponsors, mourn the loss of Dirk Hartung. The journalist and photographer died unexpectedly in Vienna at the age of 57.
Dirk Hartung had been involved with the Drexler Formula Cup organization since 2018. With great commitment, he shaped and influenced the appearance of formula racing on social media. He led his journalistic and photographic activities, managed the Drexler Formula Cup Facebook page, and developed it into a current media outlet. We should not forget his contacts with journalists and photographers across Europe.
In 1998, he founded the Autosport.at agency. Reflecting the diversity in Austrian and even global motorsport was the most important goal in his activities. For this business model, he established countless contacts with photographers from the motorsport world, and his agency always provided up-to-date information in the form of texts and photos. The Drexler Formula Cup had its place on the homepage of the Autosport.at agency with current reports and events.
The Drexler Formula Cup expresses its deepest condolences to his life partner and all the bereaved. Dirk was a joyful and unique person. He was a valuable friend. We will miss him greatly.
