Dennis Waszek wins again with start-to-finish domination

Czech driver Dennis Waszek, racing a Lamborghini Super Trofeo for the GT2 Motorsport team, dominated the afternoon sprint of the ESET Cup at Red Bull Ring. He performed well throughout the day at the Austrian circuit, earning the maximum points for the overall standings.

In the second sprint, Hermann Speck from the P9 Challenge series started from the front row, with the morning sprint winner Dennis Waszek beside him. Behind them, Miro Konopka started with an LMP2 prototype from a rolling start, alongside Christian Wimberger.

The race start was very clean, with no serious incidents or contacts in the critical first and third corners. Miro Konopka lost several positions, while Waszek maintained a commanding lead in the race.

The overall standings for the ESET Cup had Waszek in first with his Lamborghini, followed by Hubert Darmetko, Christian Wimberger, Miro Konopka, and Antal Zsigo rounding out the top five. Zsigo led the GT3 category with his BMW M4 GT3, ahead of Adam Konopka in a Lamborghini Huracan. The Slovakian driver managed to close in on Zsigo’s BMW M4 GT3 towards the end of the race but couldn’t find a way to overtake, leaving Zsigo as the GT3 winner ahead of Konopka and Gregor Zsigo in a BMW M6 GT3.

Dennis Waszek was the first to cross the finish line, winning his second sprint at Red Bull Ring and leaving Austria undefeated. In the GTX category, Christian Wimberger won with his Lamborghini Huracan. Petr Koukola finished second with a KTM GTX. The Orlen Janík Motorsport team mechanics successfully repaired the damaged KTM from the first race, and Koukola rewarded them with a second-place finish ahead of third-place Gábor Tim in a Lotus Exige.

In the GTC1 category, Hubert Darmetko, driving a Porsche 911 for PTT Racing, was the best, continuing his morning triumph and beating Vlad Raducan and Bob Bau, both also driving Porsche 911s.

The most exciting battle for victory took place again in the GT4 category, where Mark Kastelic in a Mercedes AMG GT4 won by just 0.402 seconds ahead of Rudolf Beňa in a BMW M4 GT4.
