Antal Zsigo Continues winning streak, takes lead in standings

Slovak racer Antal Zsigo started his Saturday with a victory in the first sprint of the ESET Cup at Lausitzring. The Racing Trevor team driver dominated the GT3 category, securing his fourth consecutive win and taking the lead in the overall standings.

For the first time in its history, the ESET Cup made a stop at Germany’s Lausitzring, marking the fourth event of the season. Both sprint races were scheduled for the final day of the event on Saturday. The first sprint took place in the morning, with Antal Zsigo starting from the most advantageous position in his BMW M4 GT3 for Racing Trevor. Antonín Herbeck secured the second-fastest qualifying time with his Pagani Zonda in the GTX category.

As the red lights went out on Lausitzring’s main straight, Herbeck quickly took the lead ahead of Zsigo, Dennis Waszek in his Lamborghini SuperTropheo for GT2 Motorsport, and Alex Tlustý in the Praga R1 for the GTX-P category. These four drivers of the ESET Cup were closely packed, each leading their respective categories.

A few laps later, Zsigo managed to overtake Herbeck, but this did not affect their positions within their categories. The quartet continued to race closely together, with Petr Brecka following at a distance in his Porsche 911 for GT Sports Technology, leading the GTC1 category.

The positions remained unchanged until the finish line, with Antal Zsigo winning the GT3 category. Herbeck triumphed in GTX, followed by Petr Koukola in a KTM GTX for Orlen Janík Motorsport, and the Lotus Exige V6 duo of Gábor Tima and Roland Andraczek.

In the GTC category, Waszek claimed victory ahead of Libor Dvořáček in a Lamborghini SuperTropheo for Mičánek Motorsport. Brecka won GTC1, with Bob Bau finishing second. Alex Tlustý took the win in GTX-P.
