Petr Fulín has dedicated his career to touring cars, adorned with numerous wins and titles in the European championship. However, for 2024, he has made a significant change, acquiring an Audi R8 GT3 for his team, with which he will race at the Racing Journal Speed Fest weekend at Autodrom Most.
“We bought the Audi from Engstler Motorsport at the end of winter. I’ve had some runs with it at the Slovakia Ring, and it was, of course, an amazing experience,” Fulín described his first drive with the Audi R8 GT3. However, this is not his first experience with a GT3 category car. For example, earlier this January, he was seen behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3, where he alternated with Miro Konôpka and Zdeno Mikulášek in an endurance race in Abu Dhabi.
Petr Fulín will compete in both sprints in Most, while he will leave the Audi to his son, Petr Fulín Jr., and Jiří Navrátil for the Saturday endurance race.
“We regard Most as a test race, more like a test session. We want to thoroughly get to know the car, learn how to work with it, and above all, enjoy the weekend. It’s a completely different technique from what we’ve been used to so far. For me as a driver, but also from a servicing perspective for mechanics and engineers, there’s still a lot to learn. Nevertheless, driving the car is fantastic, a simple atmospheric engine without a turbo – that’s how it should be,” Petr Fulín rejoiced.
“After Most, we would like to participate in races at the Slovakia Ring and, of course, in Brno. That’s the plan for the rest of the season,” Fulín concluded.
