At the end of last week, Mičánek Motorsport team has introduced its brand-new weapon for 2018 season – Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo. The Czech team tested the car at its traditional pre-season event at Automotodrom Brno.
“This is another step forward for us. After two years with Gallardos we have a brand-new car, which is not just newer by 9 nice, but also much more powerful,” says Jiří Mičánek jr., a team manager who also drove the new car around the circuit.
“It feels completely different. The car has a new aero kit, which is unbelievably good. While Gallardo had a four-wheel drive, this new Huracan has only a rear-wheel drive, which requires a completely different driving style. It’s just like driving a single-seater,“ says Jiří Mičánek jr.
The team also hired a new team engineer Miguel José Clara Flor from Spain, who has a lot of great experience including a prestigious GP2 series, now Formula 2. Also, members of Squadra Corse factory team were invited for testing to help.
“The new Evo has a lot of grip and behaves more like a single-seater. During our presentation, Jiří said to the journalists that we might attack faster GT3 cars. And during the three days of testing we managed to get to 1:59 lap times, which confirms those ambitions,” said one of the drivers Josef Záruba.
“After my first miles, I’ve got only the most positive feelings about it. Since the day two, we were able to get under two minutes, which had been our goal. It’s amazing how great the car reacts and what’s possible to do in the corners,” said the second driver Bronislav Formánek.
Mičánek Motorsport now heads to Monza for more testing before the first round of Blancpain Super Trofeo later that month, also at Monza. The team will then travel to Hungaroring for the first round of ESET MMSR 2018 season.
