Marcin Jedlinski controls second ESET Sprint race

Although the Polish pilot in the Audi R8 LMS started from the pole-position, Josef Záruba in his Lamborghini Huracán performed a better start and took the lead. Jedlinski then for a while looked for the ideal opportunity for overtaking, which he found in the third lap where he overtook Záruba to control the leading rank for the rest of the race. This brought him the maximum score for the Red Bull Ring racing weekend.

Josef Záruba stuck to the leading Audi with a mere circa 2-second loss and waited for the rival´s mistake when overtaking the slower cars. But eventually it was this Záruba who contacted a TCR class car in the first curve. In the incident with Jakub Wyszomirski in a Honda Záruba made a spin at the exit from the curve and stopped in the middle of the track. After a couple of moments of dramatic manoeuvring of the passing cars Záruba started to move and parked his car by the crash barriers.

Marcin Jedlinski could then comfortably drive for another victory with a thirty-second advantage before the second-ranking Jakub Knoll in a BMW M6 GT3. In another five seconds after Knoll Richard Chlad in his Audi R8 LMS reached the finish to win the bronze. The fourth rank belonged to Denis Waszek and his Lamborghini Huracan, together with the victory in the GTC category over Milan Galáš in a Porsche 911.

The second victory out of the two starts in the GT3 Trophy category at the Red Bull Ring was achieved by Tomáš Erdelyi in his BMW Z4 GT3, followed by the second-ranking Lubomír Jakubík in a Ferrari 458 and the third-ranking Gregor Zsigo in a BMW Alpina B6. The first victory in category D5 was reached by Jiří Svoboda with his Norma M20, followed by his teammate Petr Lisa in a newer model of Norma M30 with the second-rank classification.

Like in the first case the Saturday race of the passenger car TCR category was won by Milovan Vesnic in a Seat Cupra. The second rank belonged to Jakub Wyszomirski, whose collision with Záruba only left a couple of scratches on the bodywork of his Honda. Václav Nimč Jr. ended his Red Bull Ring  performance with the third rank.
