After a successful premiere in Hungary, it was the Round 2 for TCR Touring Cars as an ESET TCR championship. This time drivers had to tackle a very fast but also a very popular track Red Bull Ring in Austria. Milovan Vesnič with his Seat Cupra of ASK Vesnič team managed to win both short sprints and he now leads the ESET TCR championship standings.
As always, it was very close in the touring cars racing and every small mistake mattered. But that was not a case for flawless Vesnič. He had had a great start and he started to pull away immediately. Then the focus was on Jasmin Preisig with Opel Astra and Václav Nimč jr. in Audi RS3 LMS of Křenek Motorsport. Both drivers had a similar pace and stayed together until the finish line. However, Preisig managed to keep Nimč jr. behind him, though it was only by six-tenths of a second. Vesnič’s teammate Jakub Wyszomirski with Honda Civic finished fourth, ahead of Carol Wittek and Csaba Tóth, both in Seat Cupra cars.
On Sunday, Vesnič put together another great performance and took his second win of the weekend. However, his teammate Wyszomirski stayed very close to him and finished second only four and half seconds behind him. All that despite a small accident with a car from a higher category. Václav Nimč jr. finished third and Jasmin Preisig fourth ahead of Csaba Tóth and Carol Wittek
