Šenkýř Motorsport’s driver Jakub Knoll is currently third in the ESET MMSR Sprint championship standings. Only drivers using Audi R8 LMS GT3 have managed to be better, but for Knoll it is not important who is driving which car and only aims to win.
Marcin Jedlinski is currently leading the championship ahead of Richard Chlad jr., so how big chance to success Jakub Knoll has? Can he be the first one to beat them in a race?
“I think it’s definitely possible because my BMW M6 is really great thanks to Robert Šenkýř’s team. I just need to do a little bit better. But I don’t think it’s a battle of the car manufacturers, in the end, it’s also about teams and drivers,” said Knoll.
In less than three weeks ESET MMSR returns with a race weekend at Grobnik, Croatia. And most of the drivers will be racing there for the first time. This makes it a perfect opportunity for Knoll to take his first win of the season.
“I think that there won’t be many changes in the front. Most of us don’t have much experience with Grobnik, so I’m curious how good are we going to be there. That track looks very interesting on a video, so let’s wait and see,” said Knoll.
The Czech driver is also participating in the Endurance championship, but for him, it is just a preparation for the Sprints. He doesn’t even plan to take part in all Endurance events.
“We didn’t even have a good time at Hungaroring because of some technical issues. It was looking much better at the Red Bull Ring and my teammate Richard Gonda did very well, but I had a bad race. Sprints are much more important to me and I want to be better than in the first half of the season.”
