The hot afternoon race was best started by David Wassermann, who started from the third position in the starting grid and passed the first left turn in the lead. The Austrian Wolfgang Kriegl, qualified for the pole position in the time practice, returned to the lead for a while but Wassermann was not prepared to give up and in the second lap took over the leading rank again, holding it to the very end of the race. The silver rank was left for Kriegl and Christoph Pfluegler joined the two of them on the podium.
A big drama was featured by the Twingo Cup. The sixteen young pilots of the starting field began to compete for ranks right from the beginning. As the track was wide and their cars small four of them drove side by side through the “S” curves, which called for an accident. The safety car had to join them because of a mass collision and the hot heads of the young pilots were cooled down a little.
After restart a group of five Twingos formed in the lead, including Alfred Kramer, Stefan Kramer, Luka Glazer, Tomaž Trcek and Matej Ivanuša. Their pilots struggled for every centimetre of the bitumen road and mutually utilised slipstream. All of them prepared positions for the final attack in the finish straight where the pilots stepped on their accelerators with curiosity who will be the first to cross the finish line. The finish was rather tight and the solution was only brought by the view of the live timing. Alfred Kramer won by 0.008 of a second before Luka Glazer and the third-ranking Tomazh Trcek lost mere 0.081 of a second after them.
