The victorious series continues, Michal Makeš does not find a defeater at Grobnik either

A really fantastic debut season continues for Michal Makeš of Mičánek Motorsport. His Renault Clio has not been defeated by anyone since the beginning of the racing year and his victorious series continued in Grobnik, where his advantage over his rivals was twenty seconds.

Michal Makeš qualified for the Clio race with the best lap time in the time practice and started the race equally well. The second rank was grasped by his team mate Petr Majer, who was however unable to keep the quick tempo set by Makeš and rather resorted to watching the yellow Clio of the Slovenian pilot Zoran Poglajen behind him. Zoran did not enjoy the race for long, though, in the third lap flames appeared under his chassis and he had to immediately stop at the crash barriers. The malicious flames did not spread, luckily, and thus the track commissioners did not have to send the fire-fighting team to the circuit in the end.

While Makeš circled alone in the lead, the second rank was subject of a hard duel between Petr Majer and Miha Primozhich. The pair switched ranks for a couple of times, including a few mutual contacts. As the finish approached, a grand finale was staged by the two of them and Primozhich was already reaching for the silver rank in the last lap when in the “S” curve section received a blow from behind from Majer´s car. His black Clio began to spin on the road and Primozhich eventually crossed the finish line ranking third after the winner Makeš and the second-ranking Majer. However, after the race finished Majer received a thirty-second penalty for the incident and dropped to the third rank while Primozhich advanced to the second.

“I managed to acclimatise quickly, although the race was hard because of the number of slower cars. The overtaking was really demanding for the track is quite narrow. As for the climatic conditions, I had been preparing intensely and so the heat was not so exhausting for me,” said the winner Michal Makeš.

The Clio Cup III class found its winner in Sebastian Kolakowski and the victory in class D4-1600 belonged to Dušan Kouřil with his Fiat Punto.
