The Italian beanpole Paulo Brajnik started the race from the pole position and held the lead even after the red lights went off, followed by Andrea Cola, who was unable to overtake on the narrow and articulated track and eventually ranked second after Brajnik with the difference of mere less than four seconds. The third rank was left for the veteran Franz Wöss and the fourth for Dr. Ulrich Drechsler.
