The premium victories in Slovakia were positive for Jáchym Galáš. Thanks to them he opened the final racing weekend of the season held at the Brno Circuit with a victory in the first Clio Cup race, extending his serious of victories to three races in a row.
Jáchym Galáš won the pole position in the Clio Cup race before his main rival Michal Makeš. The two of them were followed in the second row by Petr Majer and Mattias Lodi. The fifth position at the start was occupied by Miha Primozic, followed by the third generation Renault Clio with Sebastian Kolakowski. The Clio Cup further featured Kramer brothers, fighters for the overall victory in the Twingo Cup, and the former champion of Clio Cup of 2016 Maciej Szkudlarek.
After start Galáš and Makeš entered the first curve nearly side by side. Galáš, however, held the inner trail and settled in the lead in the long right turn. Makeš held his rival close but did not dare risky duels for the lead. The interim leader needed certainty and the second rank was of gold value for him.
Jáchym Galáš thus finished the race with the first rank and a four-second advantage over Makeš. The bronze was received by Alfred Kramer tightly followed by Stefan Kramer. The top five was closed by Miha Primozic.
“The victory means a lot for me. I managed to defeat the Mičánek Motorsport team racing at home and I will do my best to defeat Michal Makeš in the next race as well,“ said the happy winner Jáchym Galáš.
The Clio Cup III category victory was to be decided between Sebastian Kolakowski and Maciej Szkudlarek. The champion of this season, Kolakowski, did not give any chance to his Polish countryman and won the race.
The winner of class D4-1600 was Dušan Kouřil in Fiat Punto S1600.
