Sunday morning marked a beginning of another Twingo Cup season at Hungaroring. The opening round of the year offered a very exciting show with 18 cars, which was won in the end by Jaka Marinšek.
It all looked to be different with Gašper Dernovšek and Mark Škulj taking the best starting spots after qualifying on the first row. However, even before the lights went out, Škulj jumped the start. Then the race began and the whole grid got separated into four tight groups.
As always, this 25-minute long sprint offered multiple overtakes. At one point, up to six cars fought for the win, though in the closing stages it was all between Gašper Dernovšek, Nik Štefančič and Jaka Marinšek. The battle was very close and Marinšek finally won, Dernovšek just behind. However Dernovšek recieved two seconds penalty for track limits and dropped behind Štefančič. Škulj took the 4th ahead of Matevz Habjan who also managed to finish in the Top 5.
