As the ESET V4 Cup weekend at Red Bull Ring continued, it was time for touring cars with TC, Clio Cup and Cruze Cup categories. They were won by Mark Jedloczky, Michal Makeš and Andreas Eichhorn respectively.
When the lights went out, the vast starting grid started to move up the hill towards the first corner. Luckily for everyone, drivers avoided any collisions and the turn one did not take any victims. Mark Jedloczky started from pole position in the TC category and managed to stay ahead of Tamás Tenke in 2nd place. Both Hungarian drivers are also teammates at Zengo Motorsport, racing with SEAT Cupra cars. They were entertaining fans with a very attractive and dramatic battle for the lead until Tenke went too wide and received a warning for corner cutting.
Halfway through the race, the Safety Car went on the track, which put the whole field together in one train. However, this situation did not help Tenke as it was Jedloczky who made a perfect restart. The battle Jedloczsky vs. Tenke did not continue and while the previous race winner Jedloczky had started to build the gap, Tenke had to deal with a drive-through penalty for abusing track limits after another mistake.
There was also a big battle for the 3rd place between Gábor Kismarty-Lechner and Nemanja Milovanovič, both in SEAT cars. The drivers swapped their positions a couple of times, but in the end, it was Kismarty-Lechner with the last word and after a great move he got into the 3rd position. Thanks to Tenke‘s penalty, he made one more place and finished 2nd ahead of Milovanovič in 3rd, Csaba Toth in 4th and Tenke in 5th place in the end.
Michal Makeš’ perfect season continued with a third win in three races this year. A Mičánek Motorsport driver is as dominant as last year. His teammate Petr Majer finished in 2nd place, despite dropping a few places after the restarts. Thomas Fischer took the last podium position ahead of Levente Losonczy with Zoran Poglajen rounding up the Top 5.
The Cruze Cup series was also back at Red Bull Ring. In the first race, it was Andreas Eichhorn‘s show as the German driver managed to win with a five-second gap to a home driver Patrick Tiefenbacher. Dennis Bröker finished 3rd after a battle with Christoph Pflügler.
