The first GT race on Saturday saw a dominant performance by Mateusz Lisowski in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 of the Polish team Olimp Racing and took the top step on the podium at Red Bull Ring.
There was an unusually big grid in the GT categories, thanks to sports cars and prototypes from Austrian championship joining the race this weekend. Thanks to that there was always some overtaking and plenty of action on the track.
It was an easy race for Lisowski, whose only worry was lapping the slower cars. He moved into the lead right at the start and then gradually increased the gap to Samuel Sládečka in 2nd place. In the end, Lisowski won by 13 seconds ahead of Sládečka, who finished 2nd with 11 seconds gap to Richard Chlad jr. At the beginning of the race, it looked like Sládečka will have to face Chlad, but the Czech driver‘s hopes were shattered by slower cars.
Luckily the fans could enjoy an entertaining battle between Libor Milota and Bronislav Formánek. Milota is enjoying his first year with Mercedes-AMG GT3 car but he has no troubles getting used to it. It is just his 3rd start with the car, yet he gave Formánek a good fight. However, Formánek was just a bit faster in his Lamborghini GTC and in the end, he managed to get ahead of red and white Mercedes on the main straight.
In the GT3 category, it was a great win for Mateusz Lisowski ahead of Richard Chlad jr. and Libor Milota. As of GTC category, which is dominated by Lamborghini Huracans, Samuel Sládečka took a victory ahead of Bronislav Formánek. Gregor Zsigo in his BMW M4 won the GT4 category.
