On Sunday, Dušan Kouřil jr. didn’t manage to repeat his performance from the opening day at the FIA Motorsport Games and he finished only 15th in the Touring Car category.
While Dušan Kouřil jr. started his weekend very well at Vallelunga, by finishing 5th in his first-ever international race, it was a different story on Sunday.
The 3rd best driver of this year’s ESET TCR championship had a much difficult day on Sunday. First, he took only 13th place in the 2nd qualifying, although his starting position was improved by one place because of a penalty for Salem Al Nusif from Kuwait.
The Czech driver than managed to make up some places in the beginning. First, he moved to 11th place thanks to a crash by Mason Filippi in the formation lap. Then, he moved up by 2 positions at the start and he quickly found himself in 9th place.
However, then the race was neutralised by a Safety Car that had to be called following a collision between Enrico Bettera from Italy and a German driver Luca Engstler. And after that, it was not going so well for Dušan anymore. Shortly after the restart, he suffered a puncture after the contact with Jessica Bäckman. He dropped to only 16th place after the pitstop.
After the comeback on the track, Kouřil jr. was able to keep up with drivers, who were one lap ahead. In the final laps, Kouřil jr. was at least able to gain one more place after a crash by Zhendong Zhang from China, which brought out Safety Car again. Kouřil jr. finished in 15th position.
Václav Šafář is another ESET V4 Cup driver participating in the FIA Motorsport Games. The Czech driver was racing in the Formula 4 category and his Sunday was going much better. He improved his Saturday‘s performance by two places to finish 12th in the end.
