Renault Clio Cup series is preparing for the next two races at Slovakia Ring. Tomáš Pekař is the current championship leader, but the Carpek Racing driver will face some tough competition.
This year’s ESET Cup series continues this weekend with Round 2 of the season at Slovakia Ring. And once again, there will also a popular Renault Clio Cup category with its two races – one on Saturday, and the other one on Sunday.
Tomáš Pekař heads to Slovakia Ring as the current championship leader. The Carpek Racing driver had a fantastic return to the ESET Cup series, as he managed to win both races in Grobnik and he has the maximum amount of 50 points. But he is not going to have it easy in Slovakia, as the Czech driver will face some tough competition.
Pawel Wysmyk is currently 2nd with 33 points, ahead of Mark Mramor in 3rd with 26 points, who is also currently the best junior driver. And both drivers are preparing to chase Pekař. They have already shown a big potential in Grobnik, where Wysmyk finished in 2nd and 3rd place, while Mramor crossed the finish line in 2nd position in Sunday’s race. And he was able to run at the same pace as Pekař.
But there are also others, like Levente Losonczy, Zoran Poglajen, Miha Primožič or Alfred Fischer. All these four drivers have experience from the last year’s Renault Clio Cup season, and they are fast as well. All of them managed to finish on the podium and Losonczy even won a race during last year´s event at Slovakia Ring.
It is also worth to follow Basenhurt team, that is returning to the ESET Cup, with brothers Adam and Tomasz Rzepecki. And also, a 16-year-old racing driver Yasmeen Koloc from Buggyra Zero Mileage. She already raced with an F4 car in Grobnik, but now she is taking the Clio car from her sister Aliyyah to debut in this category.
