The Red Bull Ring, held on 4.-5. June, will host the second event of the Twingo Cup Championship. Matej Ivanuša, who won the first two races, is in the leader of current standings, but can he repeat his double victory again?
Although Matej Ivanuša won both races at the Hungaroring, he wasn´t dominant during the whole race. He had to fight for the lead and it is more than likely that the fights for positions will be even more dramatic at the Red Bull Ring. The fast track has long straights and that´s the key for close battles in Twingo Cup. Due to the low power engines, driving in the slipstream is necessary for success – and this is a guarantee of exciting situations.
Matej Ivanuša leads the championship with 53 points. In second place is the reigning Twingo Cup champion Nik Štefančič, who is losing 23 points. The opening event did not go as planned for him, but he wants to be on the top podium step at the Red Bull Ring. “The plan is simple, become the first Twingo Cup driver to win two titles in a row. Of course, the first race weekend was not an ideal start to the season, but I will work on that, ” says Štefančič.
Third place with 27 points is held by Miha Fabian, Mihailo Mladenovič is fourth with 26 points. Luka Grm closes the top five with 22 points.
The Twingo Cup has large starting field and the Red Bull Ring will be no exception. There are exactly 30 competitors registered for the race weekend. So we have something to look forward to.
