ESET Cup continues: The battle for points moves to the Lausitzring

The ESET Cup is gearing up for its fourth event of the season this coming weekend. This time, the drivers will be venturing into new territory at Germany’s Lausitzring, where they’ll compete for crucial championship points.

Just like at the Red Bull Ring, this racing weekend will be held in conjunction with the P9 Challenge championship. Fans can look forward to thrilling sprints and endurance races featuring a wide array of sports cars across multiple categories.

In the GT3 category, the current leaders will be present. Adam Konopka with his Lamborghini Huracan GT3 and Antal Zsigo with his BMW M4 GT3 are tied in points, both holding the top spot in the standings. They will be joined by Gregor Zsigo driving a BMW M6 GT3, who is currently in fifth place.

The GTC category will see two Lamborghini Super Trofeo cars on the track. The Mičánek Motorsport team will field their car for Libor Dvořáček, while GT2 Motorsport will once again be represented by current leader Dennis Waszek.

In the GTC1 category for Porsche 911 cup cars, Hubert Darmetka from PTT Racing leads the standings, ahead of Petr Brecka from GT Sports Technology. Both drivers will be competing at the Lausitzring.

Petr Koukola from the Orlen Janík Motorsport team aims to maintain his lead in the GTX category with his KTM. He will be challenged by Antonín Herbeck in his red Pagani Zonda. The field will also feature two Lotus Exige V6 cars driven by Gábor Tima and Roland Andraczek. Miro Konopka will bring his Ligier LMP2 prototype to Germany as well.

Miro Konopka, a multiple Slovak champion, will also participate in the endurance race, driving a Lamborghini Huracan. The Endurance entry list is almost identical to the sprint, with Jakub Knoll joining the Mičánek Motorsport Lamborghini team, and Mateusz Lisowski and Karel Neffe joining Darmetka and Brecka in their respective Porsches.

Viktor Mráz and Adam Kout will compete in endurance race with the KTM GTX. The same car will be driven by crew Petr Koukola and Václav Janík.

The ESET Cup racing weekend will take place from Friday to Saturday. Friday’s schedule includes the first sprint and an evening endurance race. On Saturday afternoon, drivers will take to the track for the second sprint.
