After a summer break, the ESET Cup series is back in action. The upcoming racing weekend will be hosted by Autodrom Most, which has returned to the championship calendar after six years. Several Czech drivers won’t miss the opportunity to race on their home track, including the leader of the overall standings, Filip Salaquarda.
So far this season, the I.S.R. Racing team has dominated thanks to Salaquarda, who has won five out of six races. The only man to defeat the Audi R8 LMS GT3 is American Neil Verhagen, who started the season racing for Trevor Racing and shared the cockpit of the BMW M4 GT3 with Gregor Zsigo. This time, Slovakian driver Stefan Rosina, a former ESET Cup champion, will share his car with Zsigo in one of the two sprints.
Slovaks will have another representative in the GT3 category, three-time ESET Cup champion Miro Konopka, who will bring his yellow Lamborghini Huracan GT3 to Most. Among the Czech representatives are Petr Kačírek with the Audi R8 LMS Ultra and the reigning champion Libor Milota with the Mercedes AMG GT3. Polish driver Piotr Wira will also start with the Mercedes AMG.
In the GTC category, the Mičánek Motorsport team is preparing thoroughly for the home race, and has entered a trio of Lamborghini Super Tropheo cars. The red and white cars will be driven by GTC leader Jáchym Galáš and his pursuer and teammate Matěj Pavlíček. They will be up against Dennis Waszek with an older generation Lamborghini. The quartet of Italian cars will be completed by a pair of Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from the GT Sports Technology team, entered for Petr Brecka and Patrik Šimek.
Antal Zsigo will represent the GT4 category with his BMW M4 GT4, and a diverse field will come together in the GTX category, consisting of two KTM GTX cars from the Orlen Janík Motorsport (Václav Janík) and RTR projects (Pavel Sovička) teams. Local driver Antonín Herbeck will race his red Pagani Zonda, and Ivan Vlachkov will bring his Sin Car R1 special from far-off Bulgaria. Jacek Zielonka will race with the Radical SR 10 prototype in the D5 division.
A similar starting grid will be seen in the endurance race on Saturday. Piotr Wira will be joined in the cockpit by Daan Arrow from the Netherlands, while Daniel Skalický will replace Petr Kačírek in the Audi of the Duck Racing team. Josef Záruba and Kurt Wagner will take on the endurance race for Mičánek Motorsport. Karel Neffe will partner Petr Brecka in the Porsche, and Petr Majer will replace Václav Janík in the middle of the race. Pavel Sovička will share the KTM with his coach, Petr Lisa. Radim Adámek and Bartosz Groszek will compete in the TCX classification with the Audi RS3, while Andreas Kohlert will race with Cupra Leon TCR. In the D5 division, Jacek Zielonka and Adam Zenter with Maciej Marcinkiewicz will race with Radical cars.
