The traditional August Slovakian Grand Prix will welcome a strong field of the ESET Cup. This year, the championship visits the Slovakia Ring for the second time, with several local favourites featured on the starting grid.
Over twenty cars are set to gather in the paddock at Slovakia Ring this coming weekend. The main attractions are, of course, the GT3 cars, with the return of the two-time ESET Cup champion, Marcin Jedliński, who will be driving a Ferrari 296 GT3. Current championship leader Antal Zsigo with his BMW M4 GT3 will also be competing, alongside Martin Hudec, who will race in an Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3.
Representing the home country, the Slovak team ARC Bratislava will field three cars. Adam Konopka and Anton Kiaba will drive two Lamborghini Huracáns in the GTX category, while Miro Konopka will, as usual, take to the track in a Ligier LMP3. The GTX category also features Antonín Herbeck with a Pagani Zonda, Gábor Tim in a Lotus Exige, category leader Petr Koukola in a KTM GTX, Tomáš Miniberger in a KTM GT2, and Kálmán Bodis in a Ferrari 296.
The list of local drivers doesn’t end there. The experienced Štefan Rosina will be behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Super Trofeo in the GTC category, competing for victory against the current leader, Dennis Waszek. Pavel Bouška will also compete with a Lamborghini.
In GTC1, Hubert Darmetko and Petr Brecka are heading for a final showdown for the title. Both will be racing in Porsche 911s, with Darmetko holding a narrow lead of just 3.5 points in the standings. Other Porsche 911 drivers include Radim Adámek, Franz Lahmer, and Bob Bau. In the GT4 category, local driver Rudolf Beňo will face off against Slovenian Ivan Hrženjak, with Beňo driving a BMW M4 and Hrženjak in a Porsche Cayman.
Saturday’s endurance race will see several, now traditional, changes in driver line-ups. Dennis Waszek will once again take the wheel of a BMW M6 GT3 alongside Gregor Zsigo. Štefan Rosina will swap his Lamborghini for a BMW M4 GT3, which he will share with Antal Zsigo. Miro Konopka will move from the prototype to a Lamborghini Huracán, driving alongside Zdeněk Mikulášek. In the GTX category, Viktor Mráz in a KTM GTX will be joined once more by local driver Maťo Homola.
