The ESET iSeries virtual racing championship continues with Round 3 of the season at Grobnik, Croatia.
The final May weekend of the year is coming, and it will be a very exciting one. On Sunday, the ESET iSeries virtual racing championship is going to enter its 2nd half with Round 03 of the season. After events at Hungaroring and Slovakia Ring, it is now time to race at Grobnik, Croatia.
Pavel Gellner heads to the race weekend as a current championship leader. The Vekra Racing Team driver began his season by two 2nd place finishes at Hungaroring. Then two weeks later at Slovakia Ring, he took his first victory of the season and a 9th place. That puts him in the 1st place overall with 63 points.
But the Czech driver is not a dominant force as he is only 5 points ahead of another Czech driver Petr Fulín. The three-time European Touring Cars champion started this season very well after taking two victories at Hungaroring. But he did not do so well in Slovakia, where he finished 5th in the first race but then he did not make it to the finish of Race 2. In addition, two points were deducted him for the incident with Gabriela Jílková in the overall standings.
Josef Záruba with 57 points then rounds up the TOP 3. The Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver has been very consistent so far, with 4th, 3rd and two 2nd place finishes. He is now only 6 points behind the current championship leader.
Grobnik will offer once again up to 50 points to the best driver and many could theoretically move up to the championship lead, like 4th Dávid Němček (52 points), who won in Race 2 at Slovakia Ring, 5th Bartek Mirecki (38 points), 6th Michal Makeš (24 points), 7th Jiří Navrátil (20 points), 8th Filip Sládečka (17 points), 9th Jáchym Galáš (15 points) or 10th Gabriela Jílková (14 points). Jílková also received two penalty points after Slovakia Ring as she caused a collision with Michal Makeš.
However, Fulín and Jílková aren´t the only competitors who were penalized by deducting the mentioned number of points after Slovakia Ring. It happened also to Miha Primožič, who paid for the incident with Szymon Ladniak in this manner and he fell from 12th place to 13th in the overall standings. Keijo Keke Platzer and Tomáš Pekař also got this penalty.
In the team championship, it is Vekra Racing in the lead with 87 points. But it is very close there as well, as Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra is only 6 points behind the leader. ARC Bratislava team then holds 3rd place with 62 points, just ahead of Fullinrace Academy with 58 points in total.
The 3rd round of the season is scheduled for Sunday at 20:00 (CEST) and you can follow the live stream on YouTube and our official Facebook page. The ESET iSeries virtual racing championship is supported by the Autoclub of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Association of Motorsport.
