This weekend marks the final round of the ESET iSeries virtual championship at Masaryk Circuit, Brno. And there are still four drivers in the championship battle – Josef Záruba, Petr Fulín, Bartlomiej Mirecki and Pavel Gellner.
On Sunday, June 28, we will find out the first-ever winner of the ESET iSeries virtual championship. The final two races of the season take place this weekend at the virtual version of Brno circuit in the Czech Republic.
Josef Záruba is currently the biggest favourite heading into the final round. The Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra driver has always finished on the points so far and he took two victories. While the first win came in the opening race at Grobnik, Croatia, the other victory was at the penultimate round at Slovakia Ring. He has 131 points and he is in the 1st place in the standings.
However, there are still 50 points available and that means Záruba still has to fight. Petr Fulín currently holds the 2nd place and he is 35 points behind. The 3-time European Touring Car champion also has two wins. The Fullinrace Academy driver dominated the opening round of the season at Hungaroring where he won both races.
But more drivers are still hoping to win the championship title. Bartlomiej Mirecki, who is in the 3rd place, has 91 points. The Polish driver is still waiting for his first win of the season, but he finished in the 2nd position three times already. On the other hand, the last year’s Formula Renault 2.0 champion is dominating qualifying sessions as he won 3 out of 4 qualifyings so far.
Then there is Pavel Gellner from Vekra Racing Team, who is currently 4th in the standings with 90 points in total. He won the first race at Slovakia Ring.
Jiří Mičánek jr. also has a reason to smile as his team is leading the teams’ championship with 198 points ahead of Vekra Racing Team in the 2nd place with 120 points. Fullinrace Academy is in 3rd with 96 points.
