Jáchym Galáš won the final race of the TCR season, ahead of
yesterday‘s winner Dušan Kouřil Jr. and a newly crowned champion Milovan
Vesnič.
The GT2 Motorsport driver had a tough race yesterday after he lost his pole
position because of refuelling during the qualifying session, which is
prohibited. That incident put Galáš to the back of the grid.
However, it was a different story on Sunday as Galáš was allowed to start from
the pole position and he did not let anybody to take this victory away from
him.
“I’m glad that I’ve managed to take my 2nd win of the season and to keep the
2nd place in the championship. I think I can be really happy considering, it’s
been my only 2nd year in circuit racing and a debut in the TCR championship,”
said the final race winner of the TCR season.
But it was not that easy for Galáš. He had to defend his lead from Dušan Kouřil
jr. and Milovan Vesnič who was right behind him. Yet, nobody found a way around
the leading Volkswagen Golf and while the yesterday’s winner had to settle for
the 2nd place, the Serbian championship took the final place on the podium.
When it comes to new faces, it was René Martínek who managed to take the best
result after finishing in 6th place. Tamási Tenke once again struggled and did
not utilise his TCR Europe and WTCR experience and finished in the last 9th
position, more than a lap behind the winner.
