The promising Czech racer Jáchym Galáš has agreed with the Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team for the year 2023 and will complete the entire ESET Cup season behind the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán ST EVO2.
Jáchym Galáš is not new to ESET Cup race weekends. He finished second in the Clio Cup in 2018 and the following two years spent in the TCR Eastern Europe, where he finished second and third. He raced in TCR Europe with the Janík Motorsport team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons and last year he achieved the maiden victory at Spa-Francorchamps. But now he moved from touring cars to sports cars.
“This step is great way to progress my career. And at the same time, a huge opportunity to get to a completely different level at a very young age, even if it means starting from scratch,” says Jáchym Galáš, a new member of the Mičánek Motorsport team.
Galáš is the first of the two drivers in the junior program, created by the team manager Jiří Mičánek Jr. “Our goal is to have two drivers for Central Europe championship and develop them into the quality competitors for more important European championships, including the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe,” says Mičánek, who will simultaneously enter cars in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. Bronislav Formánek and Karol Basz will continue to compete there in the PRO-AM category.
The name of the second junior driver in the ESET Cup will be announced by Jiří Mičánek jr. soon. It is certain that both will run the sprint program in the GTC category. “I’m looking forward to it, on the other hand it will be a big challenge. The Huracán is much more sophisticated, with traction control and ABS. On the other hand, it’s a rear wheel drive. The TCR was simpler and more readable in this case,” reflects Galáš, who will test the Lamborghini for the first time at the beginning of spring and race it at Oschersleben on the second weekend of April.
