Michal Makeš managed to return to the winning form as he dominated the first race of the weekend in Brno. He was joined on the podium by Petr Majer and Thomas Fischer.
Just two weeks ago, Michal Makeš was going through hell at Slovakia Ring. After brilliant six wins in the previous races, the Mičánek Motorsport ACCR Team driver had to retire twice and even lost his championship lead.
However, the things have returned to the normal for Makeš in the Saturday’s Renault Clio Cup race. Despite the first two laps had to be done behind the Safety Car, due to bad weather conditions, Makeš took a brilliant victory, for the 7th time this season. And once again, he has taken the championship lead.
“I’m really glad that I’ve won. Finally, I can relax. It was a difficult race, there was so much water on the track and the grip wasn’t there. But it all worked out,” said happy Makeš.
He took the championship lead from Petr Majer, who finished in the 2nd place, almost half a minute behind the race winner. He is now 0.5 point behind Makeš in the championship.
The two Czech drivers were joined on the podium by an Austrian driver Thomas Fischer, who finished in the 3rd position.
There were 4 cars on the Clio Cup grid in this race. Apart from the previously mentioned drivers, there was also Mlha Primožič. The Slovenian driver took the 4th place in the end.
