Marcin Jedlinski continues in winning series

Marcin Jedlinski did not find a rival at the Slovak Grand Prix and won the Saturday ESET Sprint with an advantage of nearly twenty seconds before the domestic Christian Malchárek.

Jedlinski in his Audi R8 LMS started excellently and took over the lead at the end of the long first straight. Since that moment he was drawing apart from his rivals and after twenty minutes crossed the imaginary finish tape while still keeping the first rank – this year for a sixth time from his seven starts.

Applause of the main tribune was deserved by Filip Sládečka, who advanced to the second rank from the eighth starting position in front of Christian Malchárek. Sládečka in his cup Lamborghini held behind him his countryman in Audi R8 LMS GT3 for several laps, but then, under the pressure, he made a small mistake, and Malchárek made use of the opportunity. Sládečka dropped to the third rank and Josef Záruba appeared in his rear-view mirrors.

“Filip started excellently. All squeezed into the inside in the first curve and he overtook all of us on the outside. Then he held all of us behind him and I do not know whether I would have been able to overtake him if it were not for the something that happened to his car and made him give up. I tried to approach Malchárek, but he was too far away in the front, and so I only watched for Mira Konopka,“ was Josef Záruba´s description of the race, which he ended with the overall third rank after Marcin Jedlinski and Christian Malchárek. Záruba also won the GTC category.

The overall fourth rank and third rank in the GT3 category belonged to the local matador Miro Konopka: “To start from the ninth starting position and end in this competition ranking fourth among the young predators is an absolutely excellent result. I think that the spectators could be satisfied with the race and the overtaking manoeuvres they could watch,“ said Konopka.

A third victory in GT3 Trophy category was added to the score of Tomáš Erdélyi, this year starting in a BMW Z4 GT3. “The race was very difficult for me, especially due to the heat. We were not sure what tyres to choose for the heat before start, but even if they slid a little towards the end of the race, we had made a correct choice,“ said Erdélyi.

In the passenger car category, TCR, nice battles were enacted for the spectators by the triad Milovan Vesnic, Václav Nimč Jr. anf Martin Ryba, and this is also their final ranking in the finish.

“I am certainly satisfied with the result, the second rank is wonderful. I had a nice race with Vesnic after all and our lap times were comparable. Unfortunately, my tyres were gone at the end, so I finally entered a nice duel with Martin Ryba , and we drove to the finish side by side,“ said Nimč Jr.
