The Polish pilot Marcin Jedlinski did start for the ESET Sprint race from the pole position but when the red lights went off the lead was taken over by the red Lamborghini Huracán driven by Dennis Waszek. Jedlinski in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 had to struggle hard to get his lost leading rank back. Eventually he managed after a couple of minutes and took the lead over again, then only controlling a safe advantage over his competitors, when his only rival left was the high temperatures torturing the Grobnik circuit since early morning.
After the nearly thirty-minute sprint Marcin Jedlinski crossed the finish line first with the advantage of 8.6 seconds, followed by a triad of Lamborghini Huracans. The best of the three was Dennis Waszek, who had taken the lead for a moment at the beginning of the race.
“I managed to start well but Marcin Jedlinski began to press me from the very start. I knew his car was quicker and so I did not take any unnecessary risk. When he overtook me I tried to keep my rank to the end of the race,“ said Waszek after the race, in which he was followed by the Czech-Slovak duo Miro Konopka and Josef Záruba in Lamborghini Huracans.
Konopka and Záruba followed each other closely for most of the race but the narrow track at Grobnik did not give them much chance to overtake one another. Záruba could only wait for his rival´s mistake which did not come on the side of the experienced Konopka. His advantage over Záruba in the finish was mere 0.197 of a second.
The overall victory then belonged to Marcin Jedlinski of OLIMP Racing. The second rank overall was left for Dennis Waszek, who at the same time won the GTC category. The third rank was occupied by Miro Konopka in his Lamborghini, and the fourth rank belonged to Josef Záruba. The last pilot of the top five was Jakub Knoll in his BMW M6 GT3 of the Šenkýř Motorsport team.
The category GT3 Trophy saw another victory in this season achieved by Lubomír Jakubík in his BMW Alpina B6 of the Racing Trevor team. His team mate Gregor Zsigo and his BMW M4 GT4 ranked second.
Great joy burst out in the Křenek Motorsport team where the very first victory was achieved by Václav Nimč Jr. The young pilot quickly got used to the track unknown to him and flew off the rest of the starting field in the TCR category.
“I am very happy with the result, although I was quite nervous. I did not want to make a mistake and was afraid that the car might not endure. But my fears were in vain in the end. On the other hand, I know that if it had not been for the problems of Milovan Vesnic,my journey to the victory would not have been so smooth,“ said Nimč Jr., driving an Audi RS3 LMS.
The second rank belonged to an Opel Astra TCR driven by the Austrian pilot nicknamed Tessitore. The third rank was occupied by Csaba Tóth in his Seat Cupra of the Zengö Motorsport team.
