The Round 2 of the ESET V4 Cup began with the first ESET TCR race of the weekend. A Serbian driver Milovan Vesnič dominated in his SEAT Cupra at the Red Bull Ring from start to finish.
Vesnič started from a pole position, after qualifying ahead of Jáchym Galáš, Tomáš Pekař and Dušan Kouřil. After the light went out, he made a perfect start and kept the race lead after the first turn. After that, he was in a position to control the pace for the rest of the race. Tomáš Pekař in his Renault Megane managed to get into 2nd place and stayed within two seconds behind the race leader, but the Czech driver never posed a real threat. However, it was clear he was trying because he overshot the corners multiple times which resulted in a drive-through penalty for corner cutting. Pekař then served the penalty in the penultimate lap, which just showed the bad luck for Czech drivers.
Jáchym Galáš qualified 2nd in his Volkswagen Golf, but completely missed the start and did not get off the grid until the rest of the field was already in the first corner. For Galáš, the race turned a big catch up game. In the end, he managed to finish 2nd and also to give fans a great show to watch.
For another Czech driver, Dušan Kouřil, this race marked a debut in the series. His race started badly as well, after getting a penalty for badly positioning his Hyundai i30 TCR on the grid. Before the penalty, he was in the 3rd place ahead of Vesnič and Pekař. To make it even worse, Kouřil did not server his drive-through penalty and afterwards, he was disqualified from the race.
As Pekař and Kouřil dropped behind because of penalties, it put Galáš back to the 2nd place, where he also finished. Jakub Vyszomirski in his Honda Civic R TCR finished 3rd, just one second ahead of Tomáš Pekař. Rudi Pešovič finished 5th in his Audi RS3 LMS.
