Szabolcs Lantos debuted in Clio Cup at Hungaroring and it took him only two starts to win his first race. Young driver in NNR Team Hungary under the wings of experienced Norbert Nagy showed promises and sets new goals in this season.
Your debut in Clio Cup at Hungaroring went really well, how satisfied are you with the results? Did you expected to win the opening round of the championship?
I’m very satisfied with my results. The goal is always the top step of the podium, but I didn’t expect that in my first event.
You had to catch up the rest of the field in the first race and you led from start to finish in the second race. Which of those races were more enjoyable for you? Fighting with other cars, or driving in the lead and heading to your first win?
Every situation is exciting for me. Regardless of the situation, I always want to give my maximum.
How the car suits you and how are you getting used to the Clio Cup championship?
Both the car and the championship are new for me, this was our first joint work. I really like this car, although it’s still weird for me. So far, I’ve only raced in a rear-wheel drive car. The Clio is front-wheel drive, you have to drive it completely differently.
It looks like, that you and Tobias Poschik are going to fight for the wins and perhaps championship in Clio Cup IV class…
Thobias is a skilful driver, he has been karting like me since he was a child. We have already fought in kart. This was our first competition with Clio. I will observe his racing style and I will get to known his strengths and weaknesses.
Next stop of the championship is Red Bull Ring. What do you think about the track? And what are your goals, considering the results at Hungaroring?
I´m just training on the simulator. I love this track, I’m excited to be able to drive it in real life. I would like to see similar results as in the Hungaroring and I will do my best to win the championship.
