The penultimate race weekend of the Clio Cup can decide the overall winner of the Trophy classification. The dominant Tobias Poschik with Clio IV can celebrate even before the last event in Brno.
Last year, Poschik raced in karts, this year he moved to the Clio Cup and is aiming for the title with the Carpek Racing team. In four rounds, he has won three races and finished third three times. He collected a total of 140 points and is separated by 51 points from the second Szabolcs Lantos. If he manages to increase the difference by just three points, i.e. to 54 points, he will definitely win the title.
With 89 points, Lantos from the NNR Team Hungary still has a theoretical chance for the title, but at the same time he would have to rely on the bad luck of his opponent. This year Poschik only retired at the Red Bull Ring, otherwise he finished TOP2 every time. Lantos is also a regular visitor to the podium and, for example, achieved first place on home soil at the Hungaroring.
Lantos also has to watch his back against the experienced Miha Primožič from the LEMA Racing team. Although the Slovenian competitor has not yet won this year, he often finishes in the TOP3 and is only two points behind Lantos.
Among the local competitors, David Němček will present himself in the colours of the ARC Bratislava team with a fifth-generation Clio. The Carpek Racing team regularly deploys this model line for Henrik Seibel, who at the same time leads the 2022 Clio Cup classification.
