New RTR projects team driver Pavel Sovička returned from the second event of the ESET Cup at Hungaroring with trophies for second places in both sprints and endurance races, in which he competed with the KTM GTX car. Meanwhile the same car from Orlen Janík Motorsport scored win in endurance race thanks to the team owner Václav Janík.
Sovička finished second in both sprints and third with Petr Lisa in the endurance race. Technical problems complicated the originally planned premiere behind the wheel of the KTM X-Bow in Oschersleben, so Sovička started only in the endurance race. For this reason, the team decided to focus on Sovička’s driving development and gave him a chance in all races.
“It was a big step forward for me. I had the opportunity to get well acquainted with the car and thanks to Petr, I was able to move forward,” said Sovička. Petr Lisa was also satisfied with Sovička’s performance and described it as perfect.
Sovička has previously focused on motorcycle races and competing in the Carbonia Cup series with a Corvette Z06 car. Now we will mainly see him behind the wheel of a red and white KTM X-BOW car, which is almost indistinguishable from the KTM X-BOW of the ORLEN Janík Motorsport team, with which Václav Janík and Tomáš Konvička started for the first time this season.
The KTM car arrived just two days before the race, so the familiarization with the car took place mainly on the track. Tomáš Konvička returned to racing after a two-year break, and although he got involved in a slight collision in the first sprint, he showed greater confidence and speed in the second race.
