The Swiss pilot Sandro Zeller performed an excellent start and took the lead on entry to the first curve, to hold it until the end of the race. Václav Šafář ranked second and Paolo Brajnik ranked third, thus securing overall victory in L21 Formula category F3.
Like in the previous race the pole-position belonged to Václav Šafář, debuting at the Brno Circuit with F3 monopost. Sandro Zeller started side by side with him, followed by the second row of the grid occupied by the two candidates for the champion title, Paolo Brajnik and Andrea Cola. Marcel Tobler and Kurt Böhlen started from the third row and Philipp Regensperger and Josef Halwachs from the fourth.
Like on Saturday, Šafář failed to make the best of the most advantageous starting position and let Zeller overtake him in the first curve. The latter then finished individual laps with tenths of a second shorter times than Šafář and built his advantage over Šafář step by step, lap by lap.
Šafář started on his Saturday tyres and was unable to answer Zeller´s tempo this time. While on Saturday their duel lasted from start to finish of the race, on Sunday they finished the race 3.3 seconds apart. The podium was climbed by Zeller, Šafář and the Italian pilot Paolo Brajnik, whose bronze rank assured him overall victory in the L21 Formula series, category F3. Andrea Cola, starting from the fourth starting position side by side with Brajnik, dropped to the fifth rank in the course of the first half of the race, overtaken by Philipp Regensperger, and thus did not even enter any duel with Brajnik.
“I value my champion title in F3 very much, this year we shortened our lap times by about a second overall, but as the season passed we were troubled by various technical issues and even yesterday we had problems with the engine. Today, I was successful, though, and am grateful for the third rank in the race. The starting field was large and although there were problems with overtaking the formulas one lap behind, I am glad we started n Brno in such a high number. The series shows a growing trend, which is good,” was the evaluation of the happy champion Paolo Brajnik.
Sandro Zeller thus won the second formula race in Brno as well and Václav Šafář scored another second rank. The third rank belonged to Brajnik, the fourth to Regensperger and the fifth rank in the starting field of 32 pilots to Andrea Cola.
The F3 Trophy class was won by Bartolomiej Mirecki, making eight victories out of his eight starts in this season. Mirecki was followed in the ranking by the domestic pilots Vladimír Netušil of the Effective Racing team and Tomáš Chabr of Chabr Motorsport.
F4 class showed the same TOP3 ranking as on Saturday. The second victory of the weekend was scored by Tom Beckhauser of the Charouz Racing System, followed by the second-ranking Tomáš Korený and the third-ranking Stefan Furtbauer.
