In an exclusive interview, Mark Škulj has confirmed that he is not going to defend his Renault Twingo Cup championship title this year.
Mark, you have won the Renault Twingo Cup championship last year. How would you describe your 2019 season?
It was a fantastic season. I had no real troubles with the car and almost everything went perfectly well.
Which last year’s race do you like to remember the most?
Probably Red Bull Ring. First, I managed to win both races, but then also because of the off-track activities. And also, it was a very sunny weekend.
And which race was the one to forget?
My worst race of the season was the first one at Hungaroring. I made a stupid mistake by jumping the start, then I was given a drive-through penalty, after which I dropped back to around 10th place. But the race did not end so badly, as I had moved up to the 4th position by the end.
Who was the toughest competitor?
All of them. They all were very fast and competitive.
Where are we going to see you in 2020? Are you going to defend your Twingo Cup championship title, or do you have some other plans?
This year, I’ll be doing hill climb races with Ford Fiesta R2. I’m pretty much leaving the Twingo Cup. Though I still intend to participate in Endurance races and maybe I’ll take part in one or two Sprint races, but my dream is to move to rally.
