The fourth round of the ESET Cup 2022 hosted Croatian circuit Grobnik. The racing programme of the weekend also included formula race only for F4 single seaters. The race for young and promising drivers, who will have it´s chance again thanks to the ACCR F4 championship in 2023.
Because of postponed start of the ACCR F4 championship, the F4 single seaters had it´s own category in general formula races during the ESET Cup 2022 season. However at Grobnik, there were enough F4 cars to have it´s own race. The field was consisted of Italian drivers with older generation of F4 car and also with season regulars Tommaso Lovati and Zéno Kovács with newest F4 Tatuus 421. Although Giovanni Maschio dominated the qualifying, the race was completely different and Salvatore Liotti won the sprint with almost seven second in front of Andrea Bodellini. In third position finished Kovács and made a nice appearance behind the wheel of new F4 for the first time – on the track, which he didn´t known.
Spectacular F4 race at Grobnik was a glimpse of the future then, as the ACCR F4 championship will start it´s inaugural season this year.
