The Twingo Cup is one of the most popular series in the ESET Cup. What the small Renault Twingo lacks in size, it even up with amazing fights on the track. “Although it does not seem to be one of the most important categories, many neighbouring countries envy us,” explains ESET Cup promoter Josef Křenek.
The Twingo Cup has low running costs and is an ideal gateway to the world of motorsport. The competitor does not have to have a go-kart history, Twingo Cup can play a significant role in preparing the driver for the next career. Man or women can race here at low cost and at the same time gain experience and discover new circuits.
“Most components are standard, so cars are cheap and wear and tear is negligible. The cost of the race weekend is around 2,500 euros, the price includes the car, service, tires and entry fee. The only thing the driver needs is a circuit license, and since the engine volume does not exceed 1,400 cc, he can race from the age of 14, ”says Křenek.
This year, the Twingo Cup will be part of the ESET Cup weekends in five cases, namely at the Hungaroring, Red Bull Ring, Grobnik, Slovakiaring and Brno. Most of them will also be livestreamed on YouTube.
“Just like last year, we expect a starting field of around 30 cars. The cars are prepared and serviced by the manufacturer Lema Racing. However, in case of interest, the car can be bought or rented and serviced on its own, thus reducing the total cost, ”says Křenek.
The races are dramatic and very popular with spectators. And practically anyone can race those small cars. After a one-year break, Czech competitors will also appear in the field. The most successful participants from the virtual championship of the Czech Sim Racing Series – Michal Šmídl, Martin Kadlečík, Michal Blažek and Vojtěch Polesný – will gradually sit behind the wheel in the colours of the Czech-Swiss manufacturer of simulators RacingFuel Academy.
