The Twingo Cup returns this year as part of the ESET Cup racing weekends. Spectators can look forward to shared events, taking place at the Balaton Park, Most, and Slovakia Ring circuits.
Popular among fans for its charmingly small size, the Twingo Cup is especially loved for the thrilling races filled with spectacular duels. The race grid for the Twingo Cup is usually dense, with dozens of vehicles participating in each event. This will also be the case at the opening event at the Balaton Park circuit in Hungary.
Twenty drivers have registered for the first race. The new season will see Slovenian racers Nik Poljanec, Matic Preša, Bojan Šeme, Rok Cerar, Luka Grm, Jaka Marinšek, Zal Rezar, Cristian Jurak, Anton Jus, and Veronika Žbogar stepping in. Veronika will not be the only woman on the grid, as Linda Frey from Switzerland is also set for her racing debut. Other drivers include Vuk Deretić and Nikola Jančić from Serbia, and Bojan Petrushevski from Macedonia.
Additionally, the Twingo Cup will feature seven highly experienced drivers from gran touring, namely Filip Sládečka, Samuel Sládečka, Tomáš Mičánek, Bronislav Formánek, Dennis Waszek, Štefan Rosina, and Josef Záruba, who originally came up with the idea for this “All-Star” race.
“We once watched a race together and realized how amazing it would be to compete in this championship,” Záruba explained. This idea has turned into reality this year, and by the end of April, these professionals will take their seats in the little Twingo. “Our main goal is to enjoy the race and at the same time, have great moments with other competitors in the championship,” Záruba concludes.
With these star names, an exciting competition is expected for the regular racers of the Twingo Cup. Although driving a Twingo is not extremely demanding, the key to success lies in strategy and the skill of choosing the right moment to strike.
