Last year, the ORLEN Janík Motorsport team dominated the TCR Eastern Europe circuit series and also fielded the KTM X-BOW GTX special in selected races of the ESET Cup. With factory support, the Šternberk team contributed to the development of the car, and thus, this year, they will once again deploy KTM in both sprint and endurance races of the ESET Cup.
For the 2024 season, ORLEN Janík Motorsport plans to compete in the complete seven-part calendar of the ESET Cup in sprint and endurance races. Polish driver Carlo Czepiel, who defended the colors of the Czech team last year in TCR, and Petr Koukola, who is facing his debut season in professional racing after participating in semi-professional races with the team in the past, will take turns at the wheel of the KTM X-BOW GTX. It is also possible that Václav Janík will appear behind the wheel at selected events.
“This car is stronger than last year’s TCR and, of course, the aerodynamics work better here. I’m looking forward to the season kicking off in full. It’s a very fun car. This year I will be participating in endurance races, where I will alternate with another driver. Setting up the car will therefore be about communication. I think, however, that won’t be a problem,” said Carlo Czepiel.
Petr Koukola stated, “Of course, I’m really looking forward to the new challenge and joining the big guys. The season starts on a new circuit, which I paradoxically know because I was there last year. I don’t have high expectations, we’ll see after the first racing weekend where we stand.”
